Overview of Electrical Grounding Practices from Substation to Instrumentation

Overview of grounding requirements for various applications including substation, residential, industrial data centers and low voltage instrumentation. Including applicable sections of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) and the Standard for Installation of Lightning Protection, (NFPA 780). Review includes safety requirements and measurement techniques to determine a "good ground".

Examples of electrical service grounding for residential buildings and commercial facilities including data centers.  Discussion of best practices for grounding related to control signals and instrumentation cabling. Shielding for ground loop and Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC) performance will be briefly discussed.
